USAF History

52-6086 was made available to the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas) unit of the USAF at Downsview on 13-Jan-1953, and accepted 21-Jan-1953. It was assigned to the Air Defence Command and delivered to Stewart AFB., NY., and the 4700th Air Base Group on 05-Feb-1953 where it remained until passed across to the 9th Liaison Squadron on the same base on 15-Apr-1953. This allocation lasted until 08-Sep-1953 after which it passed to 4708th Defence Wing at Selfridge AFB., MI., and then across to the 575th Air Defence Group at the same location on 03-Jun-1953.

From here it transferred to Yuma, AZ., on 07-Mar-1954 and was allocated to the 4750th Training Group (Air Defense) and then to the 4750th Air Defence Wing on 01-Sep-1954. A very brief re-assignment between 25-Jan-1955 and 03-Feb-1955 saw it with the Tactical Air Command at George AFB., CA attached to the 479th Fighter-Day Wing before returning to its previous unit at Yuma where it stayed until 03-Jun-1959 with a period of maintenance back in Canada at the de Havilland facility in Downsview, ON., during 1956.

After Yuma, a change of scene saw it move with its unit to MacDill AFB., near Tampa, FL. However the unit was de-activated in June 1960 and the aircraft moved to join the 665th Radar Squadron at Calumet, near Phoenix, MI on 15-Jul-1960 remaining until 24-Feb-1964 when it went into storage with the 2704th Aircraft Storage and Disposal Group at Davis Monthan AFB., AZ., after which it passed onto the Civilian register on 27-Oct-1964.
