USAF History
52-6091 was made available to the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas Unit) unit of the USAF at Downsview, ON., on 28-Jan-1953, accepted on 11-Feb-1953 and delivered to the Air Defence Command at Stewart AFB., NY., and the 4700th Air Base Group on 24-Feb-1953. It remained until passed to the 9th Liaison Squadron on the same base on 15-Apr-1953. This allocation was short lived as it soon moved to the 514th Air Defence Group at Minneapolis St Paul, MN., on 10-Aug-1953 before quickly moving to the 515th AF Group at Duluth Municipal Airport, MN., on 29-Mar-1953. Whilst there and attached to the 5146th CMS it suffered a minor accident on the 04-Apr-1954, at the airport and two F-51D are recorded as being damaged at the same location on the same day. Perhaps an off runway excursion. The pilot is reported as Robert J. Sylvernale (See also 52-6089 and different name spelling). Full details remain unknown. It stayed with the unit until it was de activated on 18-Aug-1955.
