51-16571 was made available on 24-Sep-1952 and accepted on 29-Sep-1952 by the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas Unit), at Downsview, ON., after which it was delivered to the Tactical Air Command at Donaldson AFB., SC., where it joined the 7th Liaison Squadron. However its life was short as its assignment was terminated following an accident which occurred 0.5 mi SW of Pontiac, SC., on 23-Mar-1953. The aircraft suffered structural failure resulting in a crash to the ground in which the pilot Milton H. Silberman was killed.
