USAF History

52-6131 was made available on 10-Jun-1953 and accepted on 26-Jun-1953 by the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas Unit), at Downsview, ON., after which it was delivered to the Tactical Air Command and the 7th Liaison Squadron at Greenville / Donaldson AFB., SC., on 02-Jul-1953. It suffered an accident between Donaldson AFB., & Langley AFB., VA., on 26-May-1954 when it suffered minor damage caused by structural failure. The pilot was Walter O. Edrington. Staying at this location it also served with the 4501st Headquarters Sqd from 09-Jun-1954 until 01-Sep-1954 and the 4901st Support Sqd until 10-Apr-1955.

It was now assigned to the Training Command and moved to Laughlin AFB., TX., where it was attached to the 3645th Combat Crew Training Wing until 23-Aug-1955. During this time it suffered a further accident on 13-Jun-1955, 15 mi. NE of Del Rio, TX with category 3 damage (medium/serious) during a landing accident. The pilot was Frank B. Culver III.

Its next deployment was to the 3595th Combat Crew Training Wing at Nellis AFB where it remained until 20-Dec-1956 and then staying with the training theme it moved to the 3525th Pilot Training Wing at Williams AFB., AZ. This was also labelled as a Combat Crew Training Wing and the aircraft remained at this location until 22-Aug-1960 with the unit being re- designated as the 4530th Combat Crew Training Wing on 17-Jan-1958.

It next moved to another Combat Crew Training unit, this time the 4510th at Luke AFB., AZ., where it possibly remained until being passed to the MASDC at Davis Monthan AFB., AZ., on 18-Mar-1965 where it remained until passed to the US Army on 13-Apr-1966.
