Accident: Niblack Mine area approximately 23 miles SW of Ketchikan, AK 13-Mar-2012 In an attempt to avoid deteriorating weather, heavy snow and zero visability following departure from the Niblack Mine site, the float equipped aircraft crashed close to a beach near Port Johnson, Prince of Wales, about 23 miles from Ketchikan, leaving the pilot Ernest Robb, 64, of Ketchikan, with serious injuries and passenger Murray Richardson, 56, of Vancouver, BC with minor injuries.

On receiving a report of the crash Alaska State Troopers, Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad, Temsco Helicopters, and Guardian Flight Services responded. The survivors were found out of the partially submerged aircraft about a mile and a half from the departure point by a mine worker who had initiated the search by boat. They were transported to Ketchikan Peace Health Medical Center by Guardian flight services and later airlifted to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle. The aircraft suffered substantial damage.
