Accident: Northern end of Esnagi Lake, ON 12-Jul-2005.: The, a de Havilland DHC-2 MKIII amphibious float-equipped aircraft, operated by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), was flying from Hornepayne, Ontario to Lake Esnagi to check out reports of a recreational fire. After departure from Hornepayne Airport, the amphibious float wheels were not retracted and remained down during the landing on Lake Esnagi. Upon touchdown on the water surface, the aircraft overturned and came to rest upside down. The pilot and passenger (a Conservation Officer) escaped with minor injuries. A Ministry of Natural Resources helicopter in the area rescued the pilot and passenger and flew them to Wawa. CADORS report 2005O1199. TSB report A05O0143.
