USAF History

52-6153 was made available on 31-Aug-1953 and accepted on 25-Sep-1953 by the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas Unit), at Downsview, ON., after which it was delivered to the Air Material Command at Davis Monthan AFB., AZ., where it was placed with the 3040th Air Storage Squadron on 05-Oct-1953. It remained in store until it moved to the San Antonio Air Depot at McLellan AFB., TX., on 07-Aug-1954 and then it was recorded as moving to the San Francisco Point of Embarkation on 01-Nov-1954.

It is now recorded as moving directly to French Morocco and Nouasseur Air base where it joined the 7280th Maintenance Group on 13-Nov-1954. Its next move was to Rabat to join the 7221st Support group on 22-Sep-1955. This unit was re designated as the Air Base Squadron on 01-Aug-1957 and later as a group on 01-Apl-1960.

Its next location was in France with the 317th Air Base Group at Evreux from 19-Jun-1960 and then at the same location with the 317th Consolidated Maintenance Group on 31-Jul-1960.

The next entry on the record shows it with the Strategic Air Command at Walker AFB., NM., from 30-May-1963.

It is recorded as having been with the Air Force Test Centre at Edwards AFB., CA., until 12-Jun-1969 and then passing to MASDC at Davis Monthan until 15-Apr-1970 after which it moved to ASIOC at Oakland until 06-Aug-1970. It is next recorded at McClellan AFB with the Sacramento Air Material Area remaining until 06-Aug-1970 when it was struck off charge. It was then passed to the Military Aid Programme and attached to the South Vietnamese Air Force from 10-Sep-1970.
