51-16486 was made available and accepted on 15-Apr-1952 by AMO (Air Material Overseas) at Downsview, Ontario. It was delivered to Norton AFB, San Bernardino, CA and the Air Material Command on 30-Apr-1952 where it was stored until 03-Jun-1952 when it was shipped to the 6400th Air Depot at Kisarazu, Japan and assigned to the Far East Air Force. It moved to the 6408th Maintenance unit on 17-Jul-1952 remaining until deployed to the 10th Liaison Squadron, initially at Yong Dong Po, Korea on 06-Aug-1952 and later at Osan (K-55).

It is whilst here it suffered a category 4 (serious) accident 2 mi. N of Polgyo-Ri, Korea. 08-May-1954 when undertaking a forced landing in bad weather. The pilot was Harry H Whiting. The wreckage was sent to the Korean, 75th Air Depot Wing at Chinhae (K-10) in June 1954 before being sent to Showa, Japan where the 6400th Air Depot was now located by Sep 1954. Its assignment was terminated on 29-Dec-1954 as its wreckage had presumably been reduced to spares.
