The back-to-back contracts between De Havilland and C.C.C. and the government of Pakistan and the US Navy etc., was a way around the Buy America Act. The provision of the aircraft to the Philippines was under the Military Assistance Programme.

Accident: -Balabac Bay, Palawan, Philippines. 18-Nov-1961. Float equipped aircraft crashed during take off. Five persons killed and one occupant survived.
