Great news from Japan. My good friend Kihei Kitagawa has had a six page spread article published in Airenews issue No:774. Great publicity for Salt Spring Island, the Beaver and the website DHC-2.COM. Congratulations Kihei !

Today I heard "Transport 996" shooting approaches at Kingston Airport (CYGK) and it reminded me of the first aviation painting I did, titled "Transport 996" - that was back in 1987. The Queen Air is no longer going strong with Transport Canada. The call sign is. C-FCGS Beech 65-B80 (LD-404) shown here taking a break at Kingston one Autumn day. She retired from TC service one year later.

P.S. Thanks to Ian Macdonald for correcting my error!! No one else noticed I called the above a King Air!!

22 January 2008

Not a great day for the website. My hosting company had server problems early in the day, then mid afternoon I got e-mails from friends all over Europe telling me my site had been hacked. I took the image off fairly quickly. My host company were able to get the website back in order by early evening and I rebuilt the last three uploads . . so not too serious. Hope it is the last time that happens. Here are the culprits - for the record!! I suppose it is like spraying graffiti on a wall to them.

20 January 2008

Have a few weeks of "solo" with "reduced responsibilities" time here at the lodge, Danielle is off to Mexico - so watch for some catching up on the website. I have some other "projects" to complete in this period.

16 January 2008

Quite a good day when I can add two New ! Beavers to the site. Thanks to Kevin Wiggins and Robin Walker.

13 January 2008

Have finally caught up with the days of the month. Added the thirteenth Beaver on the thirteenth day. Still have huge backlog, hope to be able to spend more time on the site starting next Saturday - for a two week period.

Overwhelmed am I! A very nice position to be in. I currently have close to one hundred images to process. Many of these arriving from new contributors. My thanks to you all. Be patient as I want to do justice to every "time capsule".

I currently have about three New ! Beavers to add.

Just been checking my statistics for the year 2007 (top row) versus 2006. For those of you that might be interested in the volume of "traffic" to this website. Quite amazing, down a little this last year, but fairly consistant.

As some of you may have already noted, we have managed to "trap" two thirds of the Beavers produced (with at least one photograph!) the last third will be very difficult I know! Thanks to Mark Millar for noticing this important milestone on DHC-2.COM.

Not transferred the blog yet, but wanted to catch up. Been absorbed in other activities and let the website slide a bit. I have many images to add, sent in by numerous contributors (be patient lads), I single out Ruben Husberg, yet again for scanning his newly acquired slides and sending them over. These include our first New ! one for the year, a slide by our John Kimberley from late 1976. Slides are starting to get a bit on the expensive side, so I may have to drop out of that activity soon. I like to purchase and add to the website for us all to enjoy in perpituity. Your donations and my calendar revenues help this venture. But I don't have pockets that are too deep.

I'd just like to wish you all a Happy and Healthy 2008!
